Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
How We Live and Love, published by Lusweti Institute for Health Development Communication in Swaziland, is a booklet that describes the changes in Swazi culture that have lead to a change in sexual practices over time - mainly the practices, views, and beliefs that encourage men and women to have more than one sexual partner at a time. The topics discussed in the booklet are designed to teach and encourage readers to think about issues of culture, norms and values in relation to multiple concurrent partnerships and HIV.

According to the Lusweti, the booklet seeks to provide helpful information about how to maintain acceptable cultural practices and values, and have positive relationships like having only one partner or choosing good role models to learn positive behaviours from. The booklet speaks to the issue of rights, maintaining that both men and women have rights and that everyone has the right to make choices about how they live their lives.
