Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

International ePhilanthropy Awards 2007

These awards honour individuals, organisations and companies working in the ePhilanthropy field who have demonstrated extraordinary talent, creativity and insight in drawing the public's attention to the use of the internet for philanthropic purposes and/or have created services or strategies that support this effort.

There are six award categories:

  • Best Integrated Online and Offline ePhilanthropy Campaign
  • Best Online Donations/Fundraising Campaign
  • Best Special Event Registration and/or Membership Campaign
  • Best Community Building/ Volunteerism and/or Activism Campaign
  • Best Senior-Friendly Website Design and/or Online Campaign
  • Global People’s Choice Award

Each award provides for public recognition of excellence in the winner's chosen area of concentration, a cash award of US$500 to the charity of their choice and a sculpture award designed by artist Edward Kachurik. Recipients are selected by the International ePhilanthropy Awards judging panel. The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on September 20 2007.
