LGBT Communication Manual

This LGBT (lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transvestites, and transsexuals) communication manual is focused on Brazilian communication professionals, students, and teachers (journalists, broadcasters, publicity agents, and public relations professionals, among others) who may be influential in reducing the use of "inappropriate and prejudiced terminologies that adversely affect the citizenship and dignity of 20 million Brazilian LGBT people, their families, friends, neighbours and work colleagues." The manual is the result of the collaborative efforts of "militants, journalists, and other professionals linked in some way to the LGBT segment in Brazil", conceived by the Brazilian Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite and Transsexual Association (ABGLT).
The manual was funded by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS – UNAIDS in partnership with GALE – Global Alliance for LGBT Education, the National Federation of Journalists (Federação Nacional dos Jornalistas), and the Paraná Professional Journalists’ Trade Union (Sindicato dos Jornalistas Profissionais do Paraná).
