Make It Your Own
Sponsored by The Case Foundation, the Make It Your Own Awards are a direct response to research showing that many people feel disconnected from public leaders and institutions and don’t believe they have the power to make a lasting difference in their community. These awards are for innovative ideas and solutions that can lay the groundwork for bringing people together to engage in long-term social change.
Applicants, either individuals or teams, who reside in one of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico, may submit an idea for one of these same locations (no international projects). Applicants must be 14 years of age or older.
Twenty finalists will be awarded US$10,000 to make their idea a reality. The final four (chosen by the votes of the online community) will get an additional US$25,000 - for a total of US$35,000. The first 1,000 people who apply will receive a 12-month subscription to GOOD magazine and online tools to help them share their idea with others and raise funds online. The top 100 finalists will get a US$100 donation from the Case Foundation to initiate their idea.
The deadline for application is August 8 2007.
Email from Christine Fanning to The Communication Initiative on June 15 2007.
